The Executive Director and Regional Officer of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) in Guwahati was arrested.

The Executive Director was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 10 lakh.

The CBI recovered Rs. 2.62 crore in cash, along with documents showing investments in numerous apartments, office spaces, residential and agricultural plots across Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Guwahati, and Imphal. They also seized 6 luxury vehicles and 2 luxury watches.

Searches were conducted at the offices and residences of the accused in Guwahati, Ghaziabad, and Imphal.

The alleged bribery was linked to the issuance of a favourable extension of time (EOT) and Completion Certificate for works carried out by a private company, including the 4-laning of National Highway-37 in Assam.

Both the arrested Executive Director and the private individual involved were remanded to three days of police custody.
