The new automatic GST registration system will be rolled out from November 1, 2025, as part of the GST 2.0 reforms.
Most applicants can expect automatic GST registration approvals within three working days.
Applicants identified through risk and data analytics, and businesses self-assessing a monthly tax liability below Rs 2.5 lakh, will qualify for automatic registration. Nearly 96% of new applicants are expected to receive automatic approval.
The main goal is to enhance the 'ease of doing business' and promote a more taxpayer-friendly compliance ecosystem through automation and transparency.
The GST 2.0 package also includes rationalised GST rate slabs, automated refund and risk-based audit systems, and simplified return-filing procedures through a unified digital interface.
Taxpayers will be treated with dignity, and while evasion will not be tolerated, honest taxpayers will not be harassed. GST Seva Kendras will be fully staffed and equipped to provide registration support.
