Wrong PAN

Dear friends...

Return of Ms.X filed for A.Y.08-09 within time with Wrong PAN..... Dept. didn't find it and accepted the return...She claimed refund....PAN of X's mother has been wrongly quoted... A letter has been given to the dept stating it was unintentional....what should we do now?

I am not sure but try filing a revise return...............If that could help..........

Brother, But I think, an application along with the copies of PAN would suffice in this case Sec 292B can come to ur rescue..........

No return of income, assessment, notice, summons or other proceeding, furnished or made or issued or taken or purported to have been furnished or made or issued or taken in pursuance of any of the provisions of this Act shall be invalid or shall be deemed to be invalid merely by reason of any mistake, defect or omission in such return of income, assessment, notice, summons or other proceeding if such return of income, assessment, notice, summons or other proceeding is in substance and effect in conformity with or according to the intent and purpose of this Act.

If it is e-filing then how it gets uploaded since uploading system cross verify & do not allow to upload. But if it is physical then its ok. I think revised return can be possible if original return filed within due date. further u can submit the letter along with copy of PAN & try to explain the situation.

Mr.Amir Brother...

We have already given a letter to the Assessing officer regarding this issue with copy of original PAN card.... do we really need to file a revised return???
