Works Contract Service

No need for vivisection. Works conatracts under service tax has been introduced only for this purpose.Without vivisection composite contarcts can be assessed. VAT is also having same mechanism for taxing comsposite contracts. Under both service and vat, composition scheme is available.

suppose if we are not opting for the composition in both VAT and Service tax and going by Service Tax (Determination of Value ) Rules 2006. In such case whether the balance value available after the value adopted for  the purpose of VAT holds good for the Servive tax.
