What should be the Last Name ( Ref Aadhar & PAN - Link )

I-T dept mandate the same name in both Aadhar and PAN. We used to have only initials as last name say

Sunil Gavaskar S ( not Sunil Gavaskar Subramanian )

PAN - name update never accepts one letter as Last Name. Can you people suggest which is right way to re-define our naming pattern.

Kindly note that having father's name or family name in one's last name results in lengtheir names and not feeling good sometimes.

Bro,
Better to understand Name and Initial...

Initial is just a leter. But, Name is as per intial.

So, For PAN it must be name against intial...

As per above SUNIL GAVASKAR SUBRAMANIAN is applicable for PAN.

We have practice of using initial ( one letter ) only for these many years. Having lengtheir name is surely inconvenience

Actually we missed/wrong the name pattern in documents like above. It should be write as per pan pattern. But, we are not following the same , just use initial.

Note : You can use Your name in PAN as per Your requirement like Sunil Gavaskar S.
Option is available in point number 2 of Form 49A
