We are a proprietory concern doing textile business in Chennai. We wish to have branch at Kolcatta. We need a clarification whether I should be reident of Kolcatta for having an establishment and to get a registration certificate under VAT.

If you want to open a branch at Kolkatta you need to buy or take on rent a place for that purpose. You have to take registration under WB VAT Act. For this purpose you must have a residential address also....MJK
