CAN I FILE REVISED RETURN OF 26Q FOR THE PERIOD OF 2016-17. I DOING THE SAME WITH RPU SOFTWARE BUT NOT HAPPENING ANYTHING. KINDLY TELL ME WHAT TO DO??

Yes you can do.
It depends on what revision you are making, some changes you make online also.
othr option is to use rpu
WE HAVE REC'D SHORT DEDUCTION NOTICE FOR 1040 AND WE HAVE PAID IT. NOW QUE IS HOW TO REVISE IT IN RPU FILE.
You can log in though traces and apply for correction
As states by Umesh sir, there are few changes you can make online. And only those changes are allowed
In your case since you have received notice short deduction which you have paid, you can add challan online.
