Unable to submit my itr2 xml file in income tax portal

ITR 3949 views 5 replies

I have filled in my ITR(2) form / excel and generated the XML file to submit to the Income tax portal.

Unfortunately, it is not allowing me to submit and I am getting the following error. I didn't get any error while generating the XML.

In Schedule S in Field 3 dropdown value of "Sec 10(13A)-Allowance to meet expenditure incurred on house rent" is more than (50% dropdown value of "Basic Salary and Dearness Allowance) or House Rent Allowance" in the Sl.no 1a of all employers of Sch S.
In Schedule S, "Exemption u/s 10(10) for gratuity shall not exceed income offered under the head salary under sub head gratuity recepit and can not exceed Rs 20 Lakhs"

Basic Salary - Employer 1 = 669984

Basic Salary - Employer 2 = 1200000

Less:

Sec 10(10) - Gratuity = 231940

Sec 10(13A) - House Rent Allowance = 169027

Income head salary = 14,26,617

Please advise....

Thank you

Naveen

Both salaries show separately but for limit purpose you combine the salary. Follow Form 16 alongwith 26AS
u need to show allowances under sec 10 seperate ly then after u can claim the exemption by showing exempt amt.....

Hi,

I had the similar problem and took me days to understand the issue. Further the error message doesn't point to you in the right direction either.

In the ITR1/2 form, in schedule Salary, section 17(1), you need to break your Salary in Basic Salary, Allowances like Conveyance, Medical, HRA,LTA, other etc.. If you do this, then the validation works correctly and you will be able to upload and file your returns.

in ITR 2 fill break up of salary head wise under drop down in salary head.
ITR final salary without break up
I think now you again download ITR 2 or ITR 1

Thank you. The problem is resolved now. I was showing the whole salary under 17(1) as Basic salary. Breaking down the salary categories has resolved the issue.

Appreciate your help.
