Payment processor not transferring or refunding payment

Others 291 views 3 replies

I am a domain investor who uses a payment processor for receiving payment from customers for domain sales. Some domains were sold though the domain registrar, and when the payment was withdrawn through a payment processor more than one month ago, it was not transferred to the linked bank account.

The payment processor is also not refunding the payment to the domain registrar who sent the payment so that I withdraw using other methods despite sending several emails.

What are the legal options available to get the payment or refund from the payment processor at the earliest?

Your strongest immediate tool is the RBI Ombudsman via the CMS portal, as it costs nothing and has a high success rate for settlement issues. If you are MSME-registered, the Samadhaan portal is a secondary "nuclear option" for interest recovery.

As a domain investor, you have a few strong options here:

  1. RBI Ombudsman — If your payment processor is RBI-regulated (Razorpay, PayU, etc.), file a complaint at rbi.org.in. Fastest resolution for fund withholding cases.
  2. Consumer Forum — File online at edaakhil.nic.in under service deficiency — strong case since funds are withheld over 30 days.
  3. Legal Notice — A lawyer's cease & desist notice often works fastest in practice.
  4. Cybercrime Portal — If intentional withholding is suspected: cybercrime.gov.in

I'm a college student who built a small free AI tool for India-specific legal & tax queries — [https://naveen-dev07.github.io/a-chat-bot/] — would love your feedback if it helps! 🙏

Excellent work Naveen Singh :-) Wishing you best of luck for future.
