Quick Summary
This discussion explains how to rectify a trial balance by closing suspense accounts. It details the journal entries needed for both debit and credit balances in the suspense account, whether for untraceable expenses or income. The key takeaway is the necessity of tracing and posting these entries to their correct accounts to finalise financial statements.

Whether it is debit or credit balance??
If any expense or income not traceable then, we account the same in suspense account . for example we consider expense not traceable .so our first entry will be
1) Suspense A/c Dr
To Bank. A/c Cr
( expense not traceable debited to suspense )
at time trial balance you may trace that expense so to close. suspense account entry will be
2) Expense A/c Dr
To Suspense A/c Cr
( expense debited )
you can not finalized books of accounts unless you close suspense account .
U have to find true account of entry, which u have posted in suspense account
and that post in that account
Mr. Prasad Nilugal is right, in case of income
Bank/Receivable a/c. Dr
To Suspense a/c
when Right Income is Acertained then
Income. a/c. Dr
To Bank/Receivable. a/c
Note: There may be many suspense entries might be there unless proper internal check and balance is there
By passing entry like
Suspense a/c Dr
To Bank a/c

it means we understand cash/ bank has been paid.
how do we know this if things are not known to us. May be it is credit transaction etc
Your have to trace that expense or income which you have debited or credited to Suspense account , while preparing Trail Balance .
In case of credit transactions also you have to debit or credit to suspense account .for example for credit purchase you don't know creditor then pass entry
Purchase A/c Dr
To Suspense A/v Cr
( Creditor not traceable Cr to suspense A/c ,)
when you trace out entry be
Suspense A/c Dr
TO Creditor A/c Cr
( credited to Suspense)
Similarly in of credit sales you can pass entry .
Receivable a/c and payable a/c are nothing but sundry debtors a/c and Sundry creditors a/c, Mr. Prasad you have mentioned in the first regarding Suspense a/c about expenses I have completed suspense a/c of income, tracing is nothing but internal check immediately can be traced need not wait till preparation of Trial Balance, old wine in new bottle!
Yes , Sir. you are correct but some time , we may not trace in the month of March transactions . Normally we immediately trace .
Trial Balance can be prepared weekly, monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annually
U have to find true account of entry, which u have posted in suspense account
and than post that in correct account.
like
if receipt entry untraceable :,
bank to suspence a/c
when it's traced
suspence a/c to party/income a/c
