SURAT: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has decided to give 15 minutes to the students to read the question paper ahead of the CA examination. This decision will come as a great relief to the CA aspirants.

In another important decision, the ICAI plans to launch a web TV to impart coaching to the students. The web TV will be accessible to the students through internet. The announcements were made by G Ramaswamy, president, ICAI. He was in the city to take part in a felicitation function. Ramaswamy, who was accompanied by Jaydeep Shah, vice president, ICAI, said: "Giving 15 minutes extra to students to read the question paper will help reduce stress among them. The web TV will help the students in preparing in a better way for the examination." Ramaswamy said, "NGOs and charitable organisations are largely out of the audit net. They need to be brought in. We are working with the government on it and the rules regarding this will be framed soon."

He further said, "ICAI is working to develop a system for auditing of political parties' accounts. This will be developed in consultation with the Election Commission." The ICAI president said the steps were also being taken to ensure that cases like Satyam are not repeated.
