TDS proprietor

A client(proprietor) have two firms with separate firm  name and bank account. A freelancer is providing service to both of firms. Can he make payment of 30000 from each firm without deducting tds. i.e tds need to be deducted on payment for 30000 or 60000(i.e 30k from each firm).

Thanks

Quick Summary
This discussion addresses a proprietor with two distinct firms who uses the same freelancer for both. The core question is whether Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) needs to be applied to each Rs 30,000 payment separately or on the combined Rs 60,000. The consensus is that TDS liability is PAN-based, meaning the total payment of Rs 60,000 across both firms would trigger the TDS deduction requirement.

Rs. 60K i.e. from both firm.

TDS liability on PAN base so you should be deducted on 60000.

Nature of work

Service providing firm it should be deducted both firm because transaction are fulfulling both firm i.e both firm have to dected tds which have 60000 as per your information.
