GST utility 3.2.3 json not generating

Hello everyone,

I have been facing issues since the last update of gst offline utility update (version 3.2.3). I face two issues in this version.

  1. While importing excel file, the utility sometimes throws an error about duplicate HSN. I resolve it by simply by deleting the data, closing the utility and restarting the process. (Yes, HSN are duplicate but they have different gst rates, clothing has slab rates 5/18% hence a single HSN will be there in the return two times).
  2. While clicking the "GENERATE FILE" button to generate the json file. The utility just keeps on loading/buffering and never generates the json file.

The second bug is highly stressful as I have to repeat the whole (import, try to generate, close app, reopen app, delete previous data, import again and then again gets stuck while trying to generate json) process dozens of times to get the json file.

During my last return filing, I even tried reinstalling the utility and even trying the separate csv file instead of single excel file but it didn't help.

I also searched on YouTube and found 3-4 similar comments on a few videos but no answer.

Is anyone else also facing the same issue? If yes, were you able to resolve it, then how?

Please help.

Regards

GST Offline Utility v3.2.3 has a confirmed bug causing infinite loading while generating JSON, especially when the same HSN appears under multiple GST rates. The most reliable fix is to split HSN codes rate-wise (e.g., 6109_5 and 6109_18), import data via separate CSV files, and clear utility cache before use. This resolves the issue in almost all cases.

Thank you Ashok ji for confirming the bug, I had started to question my own process 😔 hopefully department will rectify it and soon post a new update.

Ashok ji, could you please tell me where the cache folder located for the utility?

Currently, the utility excel/CSV template requires two separate columns for hsn and tax rate. If json file is generated while using a single column for HSN & rate separated by an underscore character rather than two columns, will the gst website separate them and book them as two rows/lines in GST-1?

Hi Pushkar,

I am facing the same issue with Version 3.2.4. Were you able to resolve it?
