Tds - filing Conso File for tax year 2026-27

Respected sirs,

For the tax year 2026-27, quarter 1, form 140 return was filed before due date.

yesterday i  recd intimation demand showing  late payment of tax ( that is correct as I paid tax 2 days late in May 2026). And short deduction where they are wrong despite of writing New Form A i.e Form 135 and certificate number of lower tds rate they have given short deduction.

I wanted to revised return via conso file and add a challan in new portal but no option can be seen in new tds traces .

So how to do correction or to wait ?

Quick Summary
This discussion addresses challenges filing a TDS Conso file for the 2026-27 tax year. The user received a demand notice for late tax payment and an incorrect short deduction, despite providing a lower TDS rate certificate. They are seeking guidance on how to revise the return and add a challan via the TRACES portal, which currently lacks the option. The advice given is to pay the late interest, obtain the Q1 conso file, update challan details, and re-verify certificate numbers before uploading a correction.

To fix this, pay the outstanding late-payment interest via challan, request and download the Q1 .conso file from TRACES, add the new challan details and re-verify the lower deduction certificate numbers in your TDS software, generate the updated FVU file, and upload the correction statement.

Sir but traces not showing option of adding challans , first I have to add challan then will ask for conso file I guess .

Regarding that certificate number that was my software issue

Thanks sir for guidance will contact tds traces people as when theu will enable option of adding challans

It takes two or three days to get reflected if you have paid tax by new challan

The new TRACES portal (V2) moved the correction flow. Here is where to find the challan-addition option:

1. Log in to TRACES, go to Statements/Payments menu
2. Select Request for Correction
3. Choose Q1 FY 2026-27, Form 26Q (or 24Q), correction type Online
4. Once status shows Available (usually within a few hours), click Proceed, authenticate with DSC
5. Inside the correction form, use Add Challan (not Edit Challan) to tag the interest challan paid

For the short-deduction demand: first add the interest challan, then allocate it to the specific challan detail row in the conso correction.

If Request for Correction is still greyed out, wait 24 hours after paying the challan as TRACES has a sync lag.
