TDS CERTIFICATE
My clients bank merged in 2017 and deducted tds in f. Y. 15-16... But resulting bank is not giving tds certificate by excusing that they have no documents of merged bank...any alternative way for me to get tds certificate?

Have you checked your Form 26AS?
If certifcate no. is there, ask them to give its reprint?
No certificate no.found in 26AS
It means........ TDS return not filed by old bank.......
So, now what proofs you have for TDS deduction?
Based on that you can complain to your Jurisdictional ITO (TDS), for not issuing TDS certificate while TDS already deducted..
Bank has paid the tds to govt.since showing in 26 AS.. But bank is not giving me tds certificate since 2 years lapsed and bank have been merged
Once Form 26AS is reflecting tax credit, you can claim it in your ITR without TDS certificate. (Form 26AS in itself is a kind of TDS credit certificate)
Why you require TDS certificate from Bank, now?
Because during filing return for the relevant F. Y. the tds not claimed and return was belated. So not possible for revised return. Only way is rectification us 154, which requiring tds certificate number
When the TDS amount is reflected in Form 26AS, TDS certificate number is not mandatory; just leave it blank. Your application will be processed based on Form 26AS.
