the followings are the slab rates for ladies (aged below 65 years) for Assessment Year 2010- 11.
From Upto rates
Rs.0/- Rs.190000/-* 0%
Rs.150000/-* Rs.300000/- 10%
Rs.300000/- Rs.500000/- 20%
Rs.500000/- 30%
There are various reliefs avaialble for saving tax (not avoiding). Deduction under section 80C (LIC premium, Provident fund, tuition fees etc...) and 80D (Health Insurance Premium) are major available deductions.
