Tax on winnings from a court proceeding

Hello, I was in dispute with a Public sector company for more than 5 years and in the meanwhile my salary had been stopped. Recently High Court of Delhi ruled in my favor for a full settlement of the dues owed to me during the 5 years along with my job, but I am unsure on what taxes will be applicable for this scenario.

Hi Shitiz, your question is not quite clear. But still salary is taxable when it is due or received whichever is earlier. So if your sslary was only kept in abeyance, then you ought to have paid the tax and file your return in the respective years. If you want we can discuss this in more detail.
