is there any TAX EXEMPTIONS / BENEFITS on profits from solar power generation?
 
If yes, the rate and the period upto which they are applicable.
 
please help.

i think power generation by solar system shall be covered under section 80IA...

Solar power generation is taxable subject to sec 80IA. MAT would be applicable also.
