what is the profit earned on an investment is called? is tax is applicable on that profit? if so, how much and what is the name of the tax.plz help!
if i bought 50000 rs shares and earned a profit of 1000 on that.how much tax will be deducted and how? what is the name of that tax.please help!

If u earned profit on stock less than 1yr then it is called Short term capital gain. and if earned more than one yr then it is called long term capital gain and it is exempt from tax.
