Stamp Duty u/s 80C
Hi,
Can an Individual take the benefit of stamp Duty paid on House Property under section 80C??????
There is provision in regard to this u/s 80(C)(xviii)(d). Isn't the double deduction under 80C and Cost of Acquisition for calculating capital Gain ??????

Dear Mayank,
U r rite Law, at present Law is providing Doubble benefit in case of House Property..
Y only Stamp Duty. even the repayment of principal u can claim u/s 80 C & when the property is disposed off again Cost can be deducted in computation of Capital Gains...
Further, in New Direct Tax code this anamoly is rectified by NOT allowing the repayment of principal as deduction..
