An assessee's return for AY 2017-18 is filed on 9/9/17. Refund due is approx 2 lakh. However the return has not yet been processed. We have filed grievances on efiling website three times. In return we got the standard response as follows.

Query raised: Others - Processing

Resolution: Dear Taxpayer, your return for the said AY is in progress. Intimation u/s 143(1) would be sent once the processing gets completed. Request you to wait for the same. You can also check the status of your return by logging into www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. For help with accessing the website, please call 1800 1030025 or 8046122000.

Transaction Status: CLOSED

Is there anything else we can do to get the return processed?

Practically............ None.........

Actually department has delayed such high refund cases...... may be for shortage of funds.....

BTW, any chances of defectiveness?

We have not received any notice u/s 139(9). I don't think there are any chances of return being defective.

Actually he paid extra advance tax as he was expecting a property deal, which didn't materialise, hence the refund was claimed.

Hope the return gets processed soon.

Well, Time limit to complete assessment by Assesing Officer is one year from the end of Assessment. !!!

Plus income tax department is scrutinising the returns due to initiate further proceedings in cases related to demonetisation and income disclosure schemes.

I'm also get some of the ITR in AY 17-18 and Refund amount above 1lakh. Dept reply as per above the same... 😊😊😊😊😊

I have filed on Jun /17. My return above 2lac. When ever I call above same response I used get. Replay worried how long it going to take.

No need to worry as such, for processing of ITR, if its filed with verification completed.

Even many of the returns filed in May 2018 are not processed, and some filed in July are processed......... the reason only CPC can give.......... can predict that they are randomly selected....

Hi,

When did you return processed and how long after it took to receive refund?

I've similar issue for AY2018-19. My audited return was filed last September but refund is still not processed. On raising grievances, getting standard response same as what you mentioned.
