Rent paid to father in law

Can i and my husband both pay rent to father in law (The house is in his name) at the sametime??? Is there any limit on the amount of rent income received???

Yes, you and your husband may pay rent for the house that belongs to your father-in-law. The leave and licence agreement will show both of you as tenants.

Hi,

Consultant have produced the short deduction certification from IT to deduct   @ 1% instead of 10% for professional charges. The same has been deducted but by mistake while making payment it has been shown as 194 C instead on 194 J.

How to rectify ? 

Note: TDS return is not yet filed but payment made in Jan'14

 

 

 

 

Rent can be paid in the above mentioned Case.

No maximum limit.

However if the total annual rent exceeds Rs. 180000, TDS @ 10% should be deducted.
