Return can be filed one time either Manual or efiliing. In case your taxable salary more then Rs.5 lakh, you should  have filed by online.  Now  cannot done anything

E Filing is compulsory. The receiver at Income Tax Centers for filing returns are not accepting manual returns with income over 500000.

Dear sir , thank You for your reply, but the assessee has already filed physical return, even i also don't understand how department has accepted the same and provided him acknowledgement number despite of fact that assessee is having salary about 7-8 lakh, now he wish to know wheter physical return will be treated as void or what?? & if he wish to e file now, then for which option should assessee go revise return or original return . Thank You

This is a new situation and they have not specified any penal consequences for reason of not e-filing in case of those with income above 5 lakhs.

Therefore, the continuous penal consequences will be that the return would be defective and deemed as not filed in which case you have to make up the defect. I would suggest you approach to assessing officer to get this straightened out. Get an order for a defective return asking you to make good the defect in a certain time frame and then you efile based on the defect.

However, it would be better if you have an outright rejection as if return has not ben filed and you file the fresh e filing original u 139(4) beyond the due date. The problem is CPC is a Pillar to Post department where no hiuman beings seem to be in charge. You need a little physical interaction and best place to go is where you filed the manual return as that is a totally physical deparment.

Hi Guys,

I am just sharing some possibilities. I even have not come across similar situation before and hence some POSSIBILITIES are as follows :-

1) If after filing first return, you file second return, and because of that if first return becomes invalid, then its better to do that. Because then e-filed ITR shall be treated as final.

2) If above possibility is not present, then better to revise return. While filing revised return through e-filing, enter acknowledgement no of physical ITR filed.
