Approach your jurisdiction AO....with all revelent proof....with application why demand is not correct....and application for refund
Refund wrongly adjusted.
File rectification for outstanding demands and set right for prior years if is within 5 years .

After that file rectification to reprocess the ITR for AY-2022-23. You may get the refund

The CPC is useless; it deducted a demand relating to 10 years back, from refund due for Ay 2020-21 though it was refunding  without any fuz in earlier years .I was directed to contact Jurisdictional ITO as the adjustment relates to 2009-10. When I approached the ITO, he says it is time barred. Fact- The demand was paid in time for 2009-10, but it was NOT recorded by the ITO , it is not my fault. Now I sent him copy of the challan , he coolly says in simple term" the tax was paid for 2009-10" and the CPC assumes tax was paid by adjusting from the Refund, because the ITO does not say it was paid in 2009 itself. finally, the tax payer is the victim due to game playing by  two sections  of the Tax department..

@ Ananthu

Just submit  challan along with  all details in application  and submit it to jurisdiction AO and keep photo copies for your record

Submit grivence in CP GRAMS as well and keep photo copies for your record

Demands are for FY 2011 and 2017, can't find any such rectification option. Also, no previous demand history and responses submitted are visible in the 'Response to outstanding demand' section. Please suggest what needs to be done.

Demands for  2011

Submit itr filed along with all tax challan paid showing nothing is due

Also take screenshot of DEMAND HISTORY...( Not showing anything)  and submit to jurisdiction AO

Do same for 2017

State in application that nothing is reflected in demand history....( Screenshot)

All documents to be self attested

Submit it along with photocopies for your record ( duly stamped by reciving department)

So no online / faceless way of doing so?

The matter has been going around for the past 18 months; now the ITO says it is time barred

Mr Mahesh Sha, I approached the ITO who says after 6 months, that it is time-barred and to get condonation from the Commissioner.
