Building a Tally automation tool

Hi everyone, I’m a software developer currently researching the biggest workflow bottlenecks in Indian CA firms and individual practices.

From my research, manual data entry of invoices into Tally eats up 60-70% of staff time and leads to costly GST errors. I am building a tool where you can simply upload PDFs or photos and get Tally-ready Excel/XML in seconds.

Before I finalize the features, I want to ensure it handles real-world Indian invoice complexities (like multi-tax rates and handwritten notes). Could you spare 60 seconds to answer 5 quick questions?

Reward: As a thank you, all respondents get 3 months of Premium Access for free once we launch (Standard users get 1 month).

Thanks for helping me build something that actually saves you time!

Hi Prasanna, great initiative! You've definitely hit on a major pain point—manual Tally data entry takes up way too much bandwidtth, especially during GST filing deadlines.

I just filled out your survey. As you build this, please ensure the OCR can handle faded thermal receipts (like petrol bills) and multi-page invoices with mixed GST rates (CGST/SGST vs. IGST). Also, smart ledger mapping (remembering which supplier goes to which expense head) would be a game-changer.

Looking forward to the beta and testing out the Premium access. Good luck with the development!

Thanks sir, really appreciate the detailed feedback!

Noted all your points—especially OCR for faded receipts and smart ledger mapping. Will definitely try to include these in the beta. Excited to have you test it soon! 🚀
