Is it possible that income tax department credit refund in wrong bank account. And the account holder is third party. And what is the procedure to get that refund. please advise.

Refund from ITD gets credited only in the accounts mentioned by assessee in ITR.
So, check your ITR details, if it is the mistake of ITD/CPC/SBI, complaint it on the portal.
The account no. mentioned in ITR is wrong. Can we have now option to get back the refund.
Bcoz of this wrong account number error, ITax department has introduced prevalidation of bank details.

In my opinion now you need to visit the assessing officer of your ward and explain the said matter to them with required documentation and proofs.

AO won't be able to help as processing of return and refund is done at CPC and only limited scrutiny cases are transferred to AO.
