Rectiifcation of ITR

199 views 12 replies
An Assessee inadvertently considered income which is not liable for income tax. However, now while filing rectification return IT e-filing portal is not allowing and showing below error:
"Mismatch in GTI"
Is there any provision to file this return?

You should file rectification irrespective of mismatch by providing the correct details of exempt income
But system is not allowing, how to proceed?
Did you change the section?
please tell what kind of changes you have done while generating XML
Section changed, we have reduced the income from salary which was not taxable.
Revise the return
Veerender Ji Revised return can't file as the due date is over.

Ravi Ji we can talk for that inbox me , If you think comfortable
Then there is no option left for the assessee.
rectification has very limited scope. if you try to make extraneous changes then the rectified return might become invalid

You should contact to your nearest Income Tax Commissioner regarding this

Ao must be contacted first
AO should be communicated

rectification request can be filed only for returns which are already processed in CPC, Bangalore. If on rectifying a 'mistake' there is a change in Income – a rectification should not be filed. In this case, a Revised Income Tax Return should be filed. No new deductions or exemptions are allowed to be claimed.

Submitting the request for Rectification

  1. Go to the 'e-File' menu and Click 'Rectification' link.
  2. Choose the options of 'Order/Intimation to be rectified' and 'Assessment Year' from the dropdown list. Click 'Continue'
  3. Select any one of the following options of 'Request Type' from drop down list. •
Thanks for the information
