What is the time limit of making application for rectification by Assessee ?

Rectification application u/s 154 can be filed within 4 years from the end of the financial year in which the order sought to be rectified was passed.

but this is the time limit of passing the rectification order( suo moto ).
I am asking about the time limit for making an application i. e in how much time an Assessee can make an application.

In case an application for rectification is mad noe by the taxpayer, the authority shall amend the order or refuse to allow the claim within 6 months from the end of the month in which the application is received by the authority.
As a corollary , rectification application under 154(1) should be made by the assessee afap so that AO can within 4 years ( from the end of the FY in which the order sought to be rectified was passed ) pass the rectification order.
