Dear Forum

My name is Swaminathan Krishnan, I am an NRI currently in Australia from 2018. Prior to be being in Australia I have been in the middle east from 2011-2018. I am currently a student doing my Masters in Australia. I don't have any income, however, I have been receiving support from my sister as a loan for my Home loan and expenses for my parents. I have no source of any income in India nor my parents have any. how could I file the return?

Being NRI, and as you do not have income in India, you are not required to file ITR; unless you wish to file voluntarily.

in the absence of income or even income upto 250000, you are not required to file return of income.

Thank you, sir, for the reply.

For NRI income accrued or earned in India is taxable. If such income doesn't exceeds Rs 250,000/- NRI is not required to file Income tax return.
