A person is a Govt. salaried employee. His employer deducts tax based on his salary structure.Employer filed TDS Return for FY 2011-12 relating to AY 2012-13. His total TDS had been deducted from his salary but in his Form-26AS total TDS were not reflected. Now my quarry is what will be the duty of employee and employer?

As a consultant of the deductor what will be the procedure to rectify this mistake and which documents should I collect from TDS deductor?

AS26 is not showing the TDS deducted amount because the TDS returns filed by the deductor were not filed correctly.....you should ask the employer to re-file the TDS return properly and wait till the same is shown as deducted in AS 26 on income tax site

Hope the employee has the salary slip showing details of TDS deduction from his salary.

I think Deductor mentioned PAN of employee wrongly. If employer filed TDS returns then he will issue Form 16 to employee. So if possible get Form 16 from employee and check PAN no on such certificate. Otherwise you need to file request for NSDL Consofile and once you filed it,you need to convert in to readable form and find mistake you had committed while filing of TDS Returns. Then file Revised TDS returns now.

The problem may be with regard to PAN of the employee or the challan. If the challan is unmatched no employees will get the credit under the respective challans. U must first ensure whether they filed the TDS return, if yes ask them to check with the respective challans and PAN of the employees. If any correction needed you have to request for the concerned TDS file through TDSCPC and revise the same.
