No AGM cannot be adjourned on a national holding. It will be adjourned to the next succeeding day which is not a national holiday

Yes, You can held on public holiday also, But original meeting should not be held on Public holiday

The question is about national holiday and not public holiday. And as per sec 96(2) of Companies Act, 2013, agm can take place on public holidays and Sundays also. Only on national holidays, agm cannot take place. 

What is the difference between public holiday and National holiday

There are only 3 national holidays in India as of now which are declared by Central govt namely 15 August- Independence day, 26 January- Republic day and 2 October- Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. Whereas public holidays are declared statewise. I mean public holidays change according to different states festivals.
