can anyone tell me when is professional tax applicable?

Means, when an employer is supposed to deduct the PT?

like, minimum number of employees and ect.

Professional Tax is payable even if there is only ONE employee drawing a salary of Rs.5000 or more.

The employer should deduct at the time of making payment

(c) exceed ` 10,000.

2500 per annum, to be paid in the following manner:—

a) ` 200/- per month except for the month February

b) ` 300/- for the month February

Due dates and laws for Professional Tax varies from state to state.... So please quote state name.....

Every person who is paying salary more then Rs 5000/- per month to a one/more then one person(separately), then he is eligible to deduct PT.....

Is PT applicable if I am working in SEZ ?

Professional Tax on Employees is applicable in SEZ also just like in normal case , there is no specific exemption for SEZ area.
