I have been converted from old course to new course.I didn't cleared any of the groups and very tensed as how to prepare for new course subjects.I am not at all good in costing and neither took its class. Now do suggest me as to how to manage it in such short span of time......should I opt for one group or attempt both of them?In all 4 attempts,I cleared all the 7 subjects except costing but fell short of aggregate always.

So pls guide me as what to do now ?Your response shall be highly appreciated and would decide about my future..........

Thanks in Advance !

First be cool,

Need not be tensed as u r from old syllabus.

Prepare new topics first in ur earlier days of preparation.

Then go for old topics. Costing is a tricky time management paper. Concentrate only only questions on which u r confident. Even 75 marks attempt is sufficient for to gain 50 marks if we attempt correctly.

I am also suffering same problem with costing. I got 37 marks in last two attempts.

Be confident. All the best.

Hey Venkatesh

Thnx for the advice.

But my problem is that I never feels confident about attempting costing paper.I never took its class and thats why my concepts are not very clear in it except for OR topics.Which book should I refer now which would clear all my concepts and allow me to attempt the paper atleast to clear the group?

Do also guide me about the the study plan as how to manage time for all 8 subjects!

Sometime when we not got good marks in one subjetc, we feel that we are week in that subject & accordingly we got tense when giving exam of that subject & also forgot answer of question, which we already read. So few of my suggesstion :

Do not make image in mind that subject is difficult

Costing paper always very lengthy, so make yourself fast to answer

Do regular study

Study old few years question paper, which will give u picture, how question paper will come

Use institute scanner, which will very good to guide us.

Be condifdent & study hard,

All the best for next exams.

study plan means divide the whole syllabus of each paper into 3 grades representing very imp, imp, less imp.

first try to complete the very imp grade and then in 2nd revision also complete imp grade and follow as on.

reference book for ama : sarvana prasath (padhukas) very much useful for self study but a little huge volume than others.

@ Avinash : thnx for giving such a good advise.I am not in a misconception that costing is very tough.what I know is that I am comfortable in doing O.R topics but when it comes to costing,I lose confidence in it.and while attempting exams,I never felt confident of attempting its question.

@ Venkatesh : thnx for referring me a book. Will I be able to complete the book for may exams?and also tell me whether I should opt for grp-I this time or give both of them?

Himani ji,

Yes, surely u can complete the book, even if u can't select some questions from every topic and practice.

I prefer every one to prepare for both groups and gove both groups attempt as no one is able to say whom will pass in either of group(s).

If luck is with us we may pass both groups with nominal preparation.

so if you can now tell me which topics to cover first in costing new course, then I would be very happy.........

You should do practice of solve practical questions during study as much you can. When you get problem during solving the question, do not demoralised & get reference from books for solve the question & do it. This will give u confidence to attempt practical question.

Standard costing is most important.

Then cover marginal costing-make or buy decisions.

furtherly, budgertory control and transfer pricing.

Rest of all are minor important compared to above. But recently surely two questions are asking from low grade topics.

@ Venkatesh: Is Trf pricing good in g.Sekar ? Is it possible to complete G.Sekar in 2 months?

In case I want to give one group then which according to you should I opt for?

I said transfer pricing in AMA, u are asking transfer pricing in DT.

Any way Transfer pricing in g.sekhar is enough for ca final

Is saxena vashist book  a good option for pratice costing...

it is good to work towards the q.t. portion in costing also, it can fetch marks easily in the exams, provided that it is attempted correctly!
