HRA allowance is based on Salary and other criterias under section 10(13A) read with Rule 2A

The calculation of HRA for tax benefit is considered from any of the following three listed provisions: The actual rent that is paid should be less than 10% of the basic salary. In case you're staying in a metro, 50% of the basic salary and 40% if you live in a a non-metro city.

I stay in metro and I am self employed. i payy 12500/ month towards rent.

please guide me how much tax excemption i can avail. also inform what are the details/proofs to be submitted if any?

Self employed do not get any deduction towards rent.
HRA is only for salaried employees
