Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the eligibility for claiming medical expenses for parents under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act. It confirms that individuals can claim deductions for medical expenses incurred on parents, particularly if they are senior citizens, even if a portion of the expenses is covered by a government insurance policy. The key is to ensure no double deduction is claimed and that the expenses are not fully covered by a separate medical policy.

If medical insurance is there then you can't claim medical expenses
You can claim such expenses under 80D if your parents are senior citizen

Can I claim the remaining amount which was not covered in rajasthan State govt insurance policy for my father.

Un another comment it says you can not claim. Can you please once again confirm

I agree with rashmi ma'am.. yes you can claim medical expenses in respect of your father to an extent of rs. 50000/- subject to the condition that your father should be senior citizen during the previous year 21-22
Yes you can claim the remaining amount
I think you forgot the basic rules under section 80D ,

If there is health insurance policy on parents then medical exp can't be considered..
Here querist ask for medical expenses only

@ Eswar : Sir , any insurance policy is not there. It was just comes under state scheme which we have reimburse it but whole amount was not reimbursed.

So thought to check like remaining amount around 30k can be claimed as deduction or not.

Even if there's medical insurance is also there, it can be claimed. just in order to avoid double deduction in terms of section 80D(2)(b) and 80D(2)(d), the wording "no amount shouldn't be paid on account of any medical policy " is there in 80D(2)(d), since deduction on the same has been covered under section 80D(2)(b)
