Pan card - use of 49a instead of 49aa

My friend, who is a foreign national submitted his PAN card application stating that he is an Indian (in form 49A instead of 49AA). Is there any was to rectify it? I can't find the option to change the citizenship status in the PAN details updation form or in the Income tax website.

Also, what if he decides not to change it?

Only Rectification should be filed and no other option as far as my concern...

Sir, I thank you for the reply but could you also please tell the process? Because as you know, there is no option in the data updation form provided by the authorities to change the nationality. Would the PAN card have to be surrendered if the change cannot be made?

Go to Your Nearest TIN Faciliation center and get Rectification form as Prescribed. Otherwise find at tin-nsdl.com if forms are so...
