I have a shop where I have started a small business. So please let us know whether i have to register for professional tax.

It will depend upon the particular state where you are carrying out your business whether PTax is applicable there or not.
Professional tax is paid to local authority where you do business. Applicability may be based on nature of entity, no of employees etc. It differs from state to state
