Quick Summary
If an assessment order under Section 144 of the Income Tax Act has been passed against you, you have options. It's advisable to seek a stay order from the Assessing Officer (AO) or the CIT Appeals to prevent demand proceedings. You should also file an appeal with the CIT Appeals within 30 days of the order, though delays may be permitted. This type of order is known as a best judgement assessment.

Sec 144 order is passed in the following cases:
First of all you have to take stay order from AO or CIT ApPEALS if you don't want to start demand proceedings..and file appeal to CIT Appeals with in 30 days form the Order however they can allow delay.
