Leaving CA due to some problems, Now I can only pursue Bcom correspondence, I Passed CPT, Is it possible to get any exemption in any college in Bcom (Preferably from IGNOU) ??? Is it possible to get Direct admission in 2nd year on basis of CPT pass, Or will it take 3 years?

If I pass Inter Ca (Without articleship), then will I get any exemptions ??  :)

Hi Rashmi! Let me help clarify your doubts about admission and exemptions in BCom correspondence courses after passing CPT.

1️⃣ Can CPT pass give you direct admission to 2nd year BCom correspondence (like IGNOU or DU)?

  • Generally, NO.
CPT is an entry-level exam for CA, but it is not recognized as an exemption for BCom 1st year by most universities including IGNOU or Delhi University.

  • Most universities require completion of 10+2 or equivalent for admission in the 1st year of BCom.

  • So, even with CPT passed, you will likely have to start from 1st year.

2️⃣ Is there any possibility to get exemptions or lateral entry?

  • IGNOU and many others do not provide lateral entry based on CPT pass.

  • Lateral entry (admission to 2nd year directly) usually requires completion of 1st year or equivalent diploma/degree recognized by the university.

  • CPT is not equivalent to 1st year BCom for university admission purposes.

3️⃣ What if you pass Inter CA (without articleship)? Any exemptions?

  • Clearing Inter CA means you have cleared Group 1 and Group 2 of IPCC, which covers a lot of commerce/accounting subjects.

  • Some universities may grant exemption for certain subjects in BCom if you pass Inter CA.

  • But full exemption or direct 2nd-year admission is rare.

  • You need to check the specific university’s exemption policy for CA Inter.

4️⃣ Summary:

Scenario Admission Year Exemption in BCom
Passed CPT only 1st year No exemption
Passed Inter CA (IPCC) Usually 1st year Some subject exemptions possible; no direct 2nd year admission
Completed 10+2 only 1st year Standard admission

5️⃣ Suggestions:

  • Contact the admission office of the university you want (IGNOU, DU, etc.) to get exact info on exemptions.

  • If your goal is quick completion, you may consider universities that offer credit transfer or exemptions for CA IPCC.

  • You can also explore professional programs or diplomas aligned with your CA background.

If you want, I can help you draft a mail or call scriptt for the admission office of IGNOU or DU to inquire about exemptions based on CPT or CA Inter.
