Quick Summary
This discussion addresses a Section 133(6) notice concerning the short reporting of interest income tax. The user discovered an under-reporting of £700,000 and is seeking advice on whether to pay the tax along with their reply or wait for a demand notice from the authorities. The consensus is to pay the tax and interest (calculated at 1% per month) with the reply, as any further discrepancies will be handled by the CPC later.

Which year?

A.Y.2020-2021

Pay tax and reply............

Sir. I also would like to pay with interest, so what rate can I apply.

At present you can calculate 1 % simple interest per month. If any deficiency, CPC will raise demand afterwards.

Agree with Dhirajlal sir
