Norway - india dtaa releif

Dear All,

I have query about international taxation (Norway).

I am working as a consultant in Oil and Gas exploration industry. I have been working in Norway since last 2 years and I am already paying tax in Norway, How can I get benefit/relief under DTAA between India and Norway?

I will be really very glad to hear reply. I have been searching for this answer for long time. I hope that some one will reply to it in a simplified way.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Mahesh

Do you any income which is taxable in India. Incase yes , then u can avail the benefit of tax paid in Norway by setting off the tax liability due in India. As per the Article 24(2)A of Indo-Norway treaty, the benefit will be allowed from tax payable.

Hi Dhiraj,

Thanks for your reply.

I do not have any income in India. Maybe the interest paid on saving account would be only thing.

so no releif under article 24(2), I guess. Any other way out?

Since you have some income in the nature of saving bank interest, will advise you file the returns with tax authourities if by any chance you are resident in India for any of the particular year.

Since the tax as per above understanding is paid under the head 'Business & Profession', gtetting set off seems to be rare.

Hope this clarifes your query.

Do let me know if further details desired
