No Income Tax Statement in the Indian System

Tax queries 180 views 2 replies

In most countries, taxpayers are provided with a monthly/quarterly/annual summary of taxes paid and resulting demand or credit. I find this missing in the Indian tax system. Though there is a form 26AS, it does not show taxes paid directly by the taxpayer through his bank.

I do appreciate that there are millions of customers, but then technology makes it easy.

So, where can I find data of my payments on the IT portal with details of BSR Date of Payment and Payment code?

Pradeep ji,

Statement 26AS contains full summary of taxes paid by you.

Both Advance Tax and SA Tax paid (both are directly paid by taxpayer) appear in 26AS alongwith BSR code , Date of payment, payment code everything ( Refer Part 'C' of 26AS)

26AS statement you can download on anyday during the year and note that it is continuously updated.

So we are at PAR with most of the countries.
Dear Pravin, Thank you for your reply. I found it very useful. Regards
