Yes, ICAI has decided to introduce an Accounting Technician Certificate (ATC) Course. The objective of this course is to help those students who may feel that they would not be able to clear the final Chartered Accountancy Course.
After passing CPT, a student can register for ATC examination. He has to complete such studies and also attend classes for such period as may be prescribed by the Board of Studies. He has also to undergo IT Training for such period as may be decided by the Board of Studies. He can appear for ATC examination after lO months from the date of registration with the Board of Studies. Four subjects have been prescribed, namely, - Accounting, Law and Communication and General Commercial Knowledge, Cost Accounting and Financial Management and Taxation.
A candidate has to secure 40 per cent marks in each paper and an aggregate SO per cent of marks may be prescribed as passing requirements. He has to undergo practical experience and an orientation progranmle, after the completion of which he would be issued the ATC.
