Meal Pass - Maximum limit

First of all, THIS PARTICULAR PERQUISITE IS A NON MONETARY PERQUISITE THAT MEANS  "FOOD OR FOOD COUPONS HAS TO BE PROVIDED AND NOT THE MONEY".

.IF EMPLOYER PROVIDES CASH/CHEQUE (even lesser than  Rs. 50) than THE ENTIRE AMOUNT IS TAXABLE..

My Friend thelimit of Rs. 50 / meal applies to ONLY MEAL PROVIDED DURING OFFICE HOURS..

Any MEAL / COUPONS PROVIDED, even less then Rs 50, OUTSIDE OFFICE HOURS SHALL BE TAXABLE..

BOARD HAS CLARIFIED THAT DURING OFFICE HOURS EMPLOYER CAN PROVIDE A SINGLE  MEAL ONLY (EITHER LUNCH/ DINNER), HENCE THIS MEAL/ COUPONS AMOUNTING TO Rs. 50 IS FOR A FULL WORKING DAY..

but wat if the organisation is working on a shift which starts at 6am and works till 2 pm. it becomes ncessary to provide food for both seions which is within working hours. the provision never talks abt whether oy one meal is allowed per day.

Only one meal is allowed per day, I think this has also been confirnmed by the Department.......
