It's very difficult to maintain books on excel as you have to do it all manually. From Journal entries to creating ledgers and TB and then BS.
There is scope of making lot many mistakes.
I would advise any accounting software even of local build over making books on excel.

Use free express version of Busy accounting software (for inventory ,invoice and accounts) from below link.
You can also copy paste data from excel\word or import data from excel.
