Knowledge is the most important thing. And remember what Swami Vivekananda said - "Knowledge comes only from experience".
Without a degree, you may not get a good start, but if you are knowledgable and have the right attitude you will make it to the top. This is an example which many of the today's CEOs have left in front of us.
With degrees, you can get a good start, but you will be able to go ahead only if you are knowledgable. Without knowledge, the degrees will remain pieces of paper and will look good only in a show case where people who come to your house will see them.
And if you have the guts to come out of your comfort zone and start your business, if you believe in yourself, then you do not need degrees at all. People buy goods and services from those who offer it at lower costs and with good quality. They do not look at the educational qualifications of the person offering them (unless it is professional services).
I dont feel that degrees and knowledge are interdependent - We study so much of crap even in CA, MBA and all other courses, and hardly do people remember most of the things they have studied after exams or later. We try to learn hundreds of things at a time. Unless we understand the practical relevance of a subject and put into practice, gaining meaningful knowledge is not possible. Quite a lot of things we learn are outdated, or they keep changing, or they have no practical relevance. Luckily, CA course has less of it
I also do not feel that having degrees necessarily takes you to the top (lakhs of people with tens of degrees are working for people who have never attended school or have dropped out education). I have given more insights on this topic on my blog. See kraichura.caclubindia.com/blog or krunal-raichura.blogspot.com
I also advise all of you to read the Berkshire Hathaway Annual reports. Mr. Buffet has given very good examples of people who run the companies he has invested in. Most of these companies are run by people who have never attending schools. And he has mentioned very clearly in 2008 report that he is not a fan of big resumes.
