Well i dont understand this stupid illiterate people sitting in IT. You can file it anywhere.

e.g., My pan is issued in baroda and i filed my last return in delhi. The year before to that i filed my return in Baroda only. And they easily acceplted it...

Dear Shivang

Yours must have been a salary return only. If a person having salary income only he can file income tax return anywhere in India. But the same is applicable for salary returns only. For persons having business income their return has to be filed in the same ward as was in the last year or case of new case in the ward as specified in the letter received for allotment of PAN unless there is some change in the address of the assessee for which a letter for migration of PAN is required.

 Thanks...

agree with Mr. Maheshwari..... even in case of salary officers are not accepting the returns of another wards.....

I think the answer of mine is misunderstood.

Mr. Aditya. You can file your return (salaried) at two places. The city where you employed and the city of residence. Noone can stop you from that. IF the ITO denies to accept it than you can go to the CIT of the Relevant ward and talk to them. They have to accept it.

And for the business income, definately the place of business is consiedered.

And now since its getting E-filling, you can file from any part of India.

Just you have to mention the ward no. and city correctly.
