ITR-U return was introduced for Tax Payer who missed their ITR return without any consequences of additional taxes, penalty or interest.

Anyone can file ITR-U 8A, tax return after extended due date by IT dept which was over.

ITR-U can be filed as a updated return or belated return. You can file a request of contonation filling to your AO or ITO. But, there is no opportunity to get refund of your TDS.

In case, the tax official approved your tax filling with tax refund with proper reason. You can file your return. Most of the cases, Tax Payer should appear in person or approach someone or tax experts. Give them an authorization to appear in front of IT officials.

Thanks

Just read the guidelines of ITR-U, this return is not applicable in case of refund.

But we can carry forward the refund to next year and claim the same in next ITR.
Itr u return was a provision introduced to ease over the return filing process for the last 2 years whose return was not filed.
@ Shivani,

No...
we can't c/f the TDS to next AY through ITR-U.

(C/f is one of the formality of refund).
