Is esi and epf deducted if the employee is absent wholly

If his salary is not paid no need to deduct if it is paid leave then deduct the same.
In ESIC when you are preparing challan on esic portal select a contributory period 0 and mention reason due to absent.
In PF also you can select number of days as 0 it is called as NCP days.
