No,what ICAI awards is not a degree, but a charter and it is not recongnised for masters programs of most of the universities. However you can apply for Phd programs including IIMs.

It completely depends upon one big question-"From where you desire to do your masters?"

If it is India, then you can definitely use CA as bachelor degree as even premier institutes like IIMs,XLRI consider it for their various programs including FPM.(Phd.)

If you are interested in going abroad, then CA may not be considered equivalent to a bachelor degree as uinversities have credit requirements. Most of the univeristies in US require a 4 year bachelor degree in order to meet their credit requirements. So a 3 year bachelor degree may not meet their requirements and even if you hold a CA charter, it will not make any difference there(I am only talking about Masters in Finance or Accoutancy). I don't think the european ones have the same exceptions as I found a lot of them accepting 3 year degrees.

I will strongly suggest you to go for a bachelor degree program, if possible, a regular one.(not correspondence/distance)

Ca is nither grad., nor master degree. After complete Ca you will eligible only for phd in commerce.

Absurd reply. He just wanted to know the facts. What's wrong in comparing it with graduation? If you want to go abroad, CA will not work as you need a degree. You can justify in front of admission committe saying something like "One of the toughest courses in India after UPSC". They will be least bothered about the toughness of the course or the pass percentage. All it matters for them is compliance with their rules and requirements.

And no degree/course is superior or inferior. I know a BBA graduate who started his own business with zero investment a couple of years ago and he is now earning as much as a CA Ranker.(>17 Lacs)

When CA is recognised as a professional degree, how can u say its not a degree at all?? Where is it told that ICAI gives a charter and not a degree??

Bcom + CA - you can call ur self as post graduate in commerce

Only CA - its only a professional degree

Some universities consider CA as post graduation for pursuing Ph.d

Dear Rules Breaker

Simplest advice to you is do Bcom and Mcom from IGNOU..You enjoy exemption from so many papers. IGNOU syllabus isnt tough. All problems solved !!!! You can call urself Bcom, Mcom CA........Cul Ah !!!!

Thanks people for the replies.. @ nitin- dude get a life..being a CA student doesnt mean u cry n crip about it..live with what u get n love it..stop teaching people the pros n cons of being a CA.. M also a final student and have gone thru all the highs n lows..next time when u reply to a thread kindly stick to the discussion instead of crying in front of people..

Who is misguiding you?

B.Com is only general degree whereas CA is professional course and certify specialization.

Further CA degree can you help to get around 15k-25k irrespective of background, but for each excess in K, it totally depeds on your experience, technical knowledge, guts and last and most important attitude

Get down from your high horse and understand what I am saying. A degree here means which is recognised by AICTE or UGC,which CA is not. CA is not regulated by Ministry of HRD,it is under the aegis of Company affairs ministry, which is the reason there is no reservations in CA. and hence CA is not a degree in technical sense. "Some" universities consider CA for PhD because ICAI has an MoU with them.

This is not to degrade or belittle CA profession, but this is the fact I have mentioned. I also hold CA in high esteem, but atleast get your facts straight.
